The process that I have found seems to require that the driver/installation software be downloaded and saved to a 3-1/2' floppy disk which, in turn, is then used to install the HUH! after the troubles ive had with Vista, i was really looking forward to getting back to XP… teh fact that i had to screw around with the extended install really made

where do I go from here; I was thinking trying a new hdd (price is about $70) and then install the recovery disks if the HDD works OK. So I went into Windows Computer(right click)/Management. The BIOS picked it up, and I was able to see everything on Windows 7. Thanks in advance.
Anyway, assuming that your BIOS is crippled (as mine was), and you still have Vista installed, then ensure you have looked in Device Manager (right-click ‘My Computer' > Properties > Hardware) At least the drive is spinning up and getting power. It will NEVER, EVER be able to "see" an SATA drive unless you do 1 of these 2 things.1. Your data might still be recoverable….I would post this in our forums so others can have a crack at helping you. Look on the VAIO site for your model and see if they have any BIOS updates available, otherwise, you may need to figure out what motherboard and BIOS is currently installed I can't remember which one but this is an emerging problem and one of these posters solved it.
