Already remove the drivers, install the sound drivers. Thanks for taking the time to share your insight... The drive is a LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1H and I cannot find any indication that there is any driver or other software that could be a problem. Went round and round with Dell tech support - they actually set up a service call to have someone come out and replace my motherboard!

DVD drive doesn't recognize music CDs anymore I believe I had/have the same drive. The sound is only working with headphones or speakers plugged in but not very clear? It should work alright now.
