An 18 year career as a programmer at Microsoft soon followed. who knows but it is definitely software related! The problem then is that it takes about 20 secs for windows explorer to iterate thru all of my drives. You can google search this to find instructions, they're probably everywhere. If not, there has to be a way to stop the system from installing the drivers again. A message came up that my Cd Driver was either missing or corrupted.

Upper and Lower filters become corrupt for a number of reasons - usually software - and if you don't take care of THAT problem, the corrupted filters are apt to return.

And I think its pretty unreasonable to assume that we all have ‘broken' DVD drives. Take it back to the original computer where it was burned and try to finalize the disc. after being mad at Microsoft, now I can say thanks. I was having same problem.
