But I thought the media is perhaps low quality so I finally managed to get some TDK 4x DVD-R (TYG01 from Taiyo Yuden). The five DVD+R that I burned at 2X/4X, had only 1 that actually worked and was readable by any drive, the other four weren't. The whole DVD-/+R thing is not that new anymore. I have sent an email to the manufactures of my DVD/CD Writer (LG) asking them if the code is likely to have been generated from there unit.

I don't really wonder since for example Princo has a lot of compatibility issues and Optodisk is not a well known manufacturer. I found this program to be very easy, I just loaded the program, cancelled the wizard. I got some hints that I should buy that media and test the drive again.
